Project Overview:

The master bedroom was a large room, but they still had it furnished with the small outdated hand-me-down furniture that they obtained when they married. They realized, after returning from a trip, that they just did not have enough storage and it was time to do something about it.

Getting enough storage into this master bedroom was a challenge, because even though it’s a large room, there is an expanse of windows along with three doors in the room, so furniture placement of the storage pieces was difficult. The homeowners also wanted crown and overhead lighting added (preferably a chandelier), and with 8 ft ceilings, getting these things to work in the space was tricky. The wife really wanted a very glamorous retreat.

Suzan J Designs started with a fabulous wallpaper accent on one wall. A charming king upholstered bed, with a gray distressed painted finish, anchored that wall. A simple linen duvet with crocheted edges, and a few select pillows, completed the bed. One gray painted dresser had a decorative mirror placed above it for a wow factor. Since we didn’t want a matching set, we used a storage dresser and nightstands painted in a creamy distressed finish.

Our client had her heart set on a white fuzzy rug, and requested lavender as the accent color in the room. The custom draperies had the lavender, with gray, cream and yellow accents, and the chair was in a gray velvet. A small footstool was reupholstered in this same fabric. The wife had a photo of her grandparents on their wedding day, so we placed it lovingly on her dresser. New crown and chandelier completed the haven that they both sought for their master bedroom.
