Renovations

When is it time to renovate?

Like it or not, sometimes a home needs a major update or overhaul; the existing layout no longer works for your family, or you bought a home or condo in a prime location, but it’s outdated, with an overabundance of golden oak. At Suzan J Designs, we strive to learn about your likes, dislikes, how you live, what you love about your home – and what you don’t. Oftentimes our clients don’t know what they want or need – they just know something isn’t right. Our team delves into the nitty gritty to understand not just the aesthetic needs of our clients but the functional needs as well. We want you to love your home again, and we know the path it takes to get there. We identify and discuss any renovations that could impact your way-of-life and increase the value of your home.

These are some of the most often needed updates we see in homes:

  • Kitchens and Bathrooms – from cosmetic updates to full gut renovations
  • Opening walls, moving walls
  • Full home renovations
  • Millwork and Flooring updates
  • Staircase redesign
  • Paint and stain changes
  • Fireplace redesign

A renovation is a process and starts with a visit to your home. During our initial two hour consult, we walk through and discuss everything from seating arrangements to traffic flow, just as we do for a design with no renovations. We look at the areas that aren’t working for you – a wall that needs to be opened up, a dated kitchen with a poor floor plan, old cabinets, awkward eating area – or a bathroom with an over-sized jetted tub that is used not for bathing but for storing your yoga mat and exercise equipment. Once the pain points are identified, we discuss wants vs needs, style, timeline and budget. A project cannot be priced out until there is a Scope Of Work in which to work off of, so the next step is hiring our team to start the design process.

One benefit of entrusting our team with your renovation and interior design project is experience. With over twenty five years in the business along with numerous awards for her design work, including winning Designer of the Year twice,  Suzan leads a team who knows how to get the job done.
